V-Day Special: Bollywood’s 9 evergreen romantic tracks

Nothing can create romance like music. So this Valentine’s Day, here are some eternal love anthems Bollywood has gifted us over the years. Go, fill your day with music and love.

Tum Hi Ho (Aashiqui 2)

Composed and penned by Mithoon, Tum Hi Ho is one of the most romantic tracks to have come out in the recent years. This love ballad has been rendered beautifully by Arijit Singh and has become an anthem of sorts for the current generation.

Suraj Hua Madham (Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham)

Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol’s sizzling chemistry and Sonu Nigam-Alka Yagnik’s vocals make it a song that remains unparalleled. To add to the magic is the gorgeous backdrop of Egypt.

Interestingly, SRK-Kajol tried to recreate the magic in Gerua but Suraj Hua Madham still remains a favourite.

Tum Mile (Criminal)

Composed by MM Kreem, the song rendered by Kumar Sanu and Alka Yagnik is a treat for the listeners. The video features Nagarjuna and Manisha Koirala.

Tujhe Dekha (Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge)

Anyone who has grown up in the 90s will agree that this song deserves a spot in the list of eternal romantic tracks. Just admit it – even your heart jumped with joy when you saw Raj (Shah Rukh Khan) coming all the way to India to woo Simran (Kajol). Mustard fields, SRK’s signature pose of outstretched arms music, Kajol in a white salwar kameez – this song has become iconic.

Pehla Nasha (Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar)

Remember your first crush? This Aamir Khan song, sung by Udit Narayan and Sadhana Sargam, takes you down memory lane and reminds one of his/her first brush with love.

Aye Mere Humsafar (Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak)

Maybe it’s the charm of then newcomers Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla. Or it could just be the melodious tune and soothing vocals of Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik. But there’s something about this song that always manages to tug at your heart.

Yeh Kahan Aa Gaye Hum (Silsila)

Picturised on former lovers Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha, this track has soulful poetry penned by Javed Akhtar. The crackling chemistry between the ex-lovers will melt your heart and Lata Mangeshkar’s vocals will make you hear the song on loop.

Jab Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya (Mughal-e-Azam)

Once again, it was former lovers Dilip Kumar and Madhubala who came together to create a masterpiece. The song celebrates the spirit of fearless love.

Tere Mere Sapne (Guide)

It’s hard to choose a favourite from the numerous gems SD Burman has given us. But this Mohammed Rafi number holds a special place, even after so many decades.
